Not Much

Nothing much to report this week except the aggravations of work. Although I did manage to get out Saturday to a "Reunion" of High School people (I use the term reunion loosely) and today to have brunch with the QWACers to celebrate the new job of one of our members.

Oh, and I'm also trying this new thing where I only focus on getting through one day at a time. So far it's working but it's only been a few days. We'll see how that goes...I'm optimistic.

I hope you all have a good week. Enjoy.

Beach Day Fun

Time for my weekly update. I hope you all had fun this weekend...in New York City it has been marvelous and quite enjoyable. This week was crazy busy at work again. It's not going to die down any time soon but I'll get through somehow. I took the last of my summer Fridays and went to get my nails done and walked around in the afternoon. Then I went to Sister Sister's house to watch a movie. It rained tons in the evening but we watched The Women and laughed and talked about crap. The Women is one of my favorite movies...they are remaking it and i'm pretty upset over it. I think they will probably ruin the whole story.

Yesterday was nice brunch with TK and friend lead to some walking around street fairs in lower Manhattan. For some reason the galleries were all closed. Go figure, but it was nice to hang out with him and get scoops that I've missed out on. Today was a total good beach day with KAO as the subject line would suggest. We stayed just the right amount of time for me to get darker but not long enough for me to erase those icky tan lines I acquired on Memorial Day. Even though the picture looks crowded it really wasn't. We picked a good area to bunker down in so we our space wasn't intruded on. It was really nice, relaxing, fun and uncomplicated. Subway to train, everyone is on time, train to beach, beach to diner for burgers, diner for train, and then a lovely walk home. How nice is that.

Now I'm preparing for tomorrow and this week. I'm anticipating the worse of all this week and hope I don't cry in frustration. Seriously, late nights and stress are not my favorites, but at least I know I'm earning my wages in an honest way. It's not in my nature to slack off and then complain about work....at least I know I'm doing my best and that gives me the right to complain..

I hope you all have better weeks ahead then I do.
Cheers for now.

Wrap Up

This past week was rough. Getting back from vacation is always difficult but I couldn't get over the fact that I was out for 3 days and it felt like I was gone for weeks. I came back to a ton of e-mails, voicemails and a pile of mail. For goodness sakes, when did we start punishing people for taking the time off that they deserve. In the end I got through it. I took off Friday too. It would seem like I would feel bad taking the time off but it's either that or lose it....not just the time, but my mind too. Next week i'm taking off Tuesday and Friday to take care of some things at home. I shall not feel guilty about that.

I really did enjoy the long weekend to the fullest. Friday I went to the doctor and enjoyed some of the afternoon in the city. Then I just came home and relaxed and watched Oprah. Saturday was the most random day i've spent in a long time. Thanks to the bizarre actions of KAO we had brunch, went to the park and got some Pinkberry for no reason whatsoever. Ending up at Columbus Circle people watching and watching the sun hide behind the towers.

The best part of this whole weekend was being about to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics. It was a spectacular show with loads of color and excitement. I was quite impressed let me tell you. The rest of this afternoon I might watch some more of the events. I like watching the more obscure events because the little countries actually stand a chance at those.

Hope you all have good plans this week.... Cheers!

Back in the Empire State

Today has been a perfectly gorgeous summer day. PERFECT. I woke up and saw the sun for the first time in days. Went to brunch and did some light shopping (I had to get my copy of Breaking Dawn, HAD to) with Sister Sister. Then it was back to the fantasy apartment complex that looks like a park and you can sit outside and read Eclipse to your hearts content. I figure I would come up now and start settling in, maybe make some dinner and watch a quick movie before Mad Men, my favorite TV show ever, comes on. The day started early and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I can't stand wasting nice days....there is plenty of time to sleep when you are dead...enjoy life while you have it.

The Sunshine State was good while it lasted. Only they should change the slogan from now on because it rained the whole time we were there. That didn't stop us from relaxing though, taking in some sights, and doing lots of outlet shopping. I almost forgot the best part, Travel Date and I went to see the Dark Knight on friggin' IMAX. Hello? Can it get better?....Ummmm, NO. To be honest I thought this movie was a bunch of hype and thought I was being dragged by a boy to a boy movie that I would be bored by. However, I must say this probably was the best Batman Movie ever, and the IMAX features were well worth the extra couple of bucks (even though I didn't pay). The 3D scenes were amazing and Heath Ledger did an excellent job with the Joker character. Not just because of his untimely death but because he was fantastic he deserves the recognition. Overall we got to rest and just enjoyed being away from work....seriously I needed this break.

Now it's back to work and life...tomorrow is supposed to be equally gorgeous...maybe I'll skip work...Muahaha!
