Movers and Shakers

Dare I blog from work!

Truth is i have a headache and it's the end of the day so why not decompress with a nice post. Last night I went to a networking event curtesy of Shaneequa. She was kind enough to invite me to her old alma matter so that I can possibly recruit some young blood for my new gig. Very exciting stuff, new contacts always helps. I think this makes us the new movers and shakers in this town. It's also interesting to see how far we have both come. From the time we were students, watching people come talk to us, now we are the ones that talk to the students. It doesn't make me feel old, it makes me proud of what I've done so far. And even though i have a long way to go, it gives me some satisfaction....for now.

Tonight I am meetting Delirum and the gang for Indian food which i would not miss for the world. I could have the biggest headache in the world and still go. It will help clear my sinuses. Not much else going on, pretty boring I know.

Farewell to Sunny and Cher

I'm sorry to report that Sunny and Cher have passed away. They grew in well and gave me four flowers but they dried out really quickly. Here is a picture of Sunny and Cher at their best (McFly pictured in the lower right hand).

Evil TomKat Baby....Save The Planet

As it may appear to some I have vanished! I know I have not been posting at my usual speed and have become one of those now and again bloggers that I used to hate. Well, I'm charnging my ways. I'm going to have to stay on top of the game in order to retain my audience. I've been quite consumed with my new gig to the point where is was not able to announce the birth of the evil tomkat baby. I'm sure the kid is cute, but this is the picture that comes to my head when I think about the TomKitten.

On a lighter note, today is Earth Day! It's a little rainy outside, let's just hope it's not acid rain. Anyway, we all need to do our part in conserving our planet's natural resources. It's a shame that we don't do as much as we could. Global Warming has been brought up recently but as always it takes a back seat to other topics like "iraq" and "saddam". Interesting bit of information, Montana's Glacier Park started out having 150 glaciers, now it only has 26. This is just one example. Did you know that recycling one soda can saves enough energy to run a television set for 3 hours?

Let's all try to conserve water and reuse as much as possible, because evry little bit helps.

Why can't we all just get along

Recent events in my life have got me thinking. (But then again, whatelse is new?)

I wonder why people feel the need to put down others in order to make themselves feel better. I wonder why people who call themselves your friends feel like life is a competition and they must come out the winner. I'm not singling anyone out, and I'm not making a judgement I'm just asking questions.

It just seems to me lately that, more often than not, we can't be sure of who to trust and who to call a friend. I would like to think that I can count on any number of people around me for support and that they can do the same with me. I think though that as a person, I'm going to have to start being more selective, because ultimately, people want only themselves to succeed and don't mind stepping on others to do that.

My words of wisdom will only be heard by those that ask, and those that ask nicely. My brain will only be picked at by those that I trust and feel confident that they will contribute to my life just as much as I will contribute to them. My last words of wisdom to all: Life is not a competition.

To tell you the truth I'm a bit sadden by this. I though about it all the way home on the subway. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

Tom Kat's Baby

I would like to share with you an interesting exchange I had with Shaneequa today about the offspring of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes:

BTQ says:
Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to a boy. Didn’t Katie Holmes get pregnant before Gwyneth?

Floatinghead says: I know, she named the kid Moses. I swear Katie Holmes has been pregnant for at least a year. Seriously, Gwen conceived and popped out a kid, why is the alien baby taking so long!

BTQ says: Actually, she’s prolly 8 month pregnant cuz they announced it around October and most likely she was about 2 month at that time.

Floatinghead says: i think she is further along, usually pple don't announce pregnancy until after the third month, so she must already by 9 months pregnant...with the alien baby.

BTQ says: OK. She’ll pop soon enough. Imagine the baby is the cutest thing ever because the father is not Tom Cruise?

Floatinghead says: Imagine the baby comes out looking like denzel washington

BTQ says:
That’s hilarious. But I have a feeling that he baby will have blond hair blue eyes. OH NO….the baby will look like John Travolta…another Scientologist.

Floatinghead says: the baby will look like no one - you know why? - bc they took a little bit of all the male scientologist dna and they took it and bread the ultimate scientology baby - which will look like arnold schwartznegger

BTQ says: A little bit of everything. How about a gay AWWWnold?

Floatinghead says: no i think this will be the first person in the world that can self-procreate, there will be no need for another person in the equation, they will be completely asexual and populate the earth with other self-procreating scientology babies

BTQ says: OK…now your imagination is freaking me out!

Floatinghead says: i'm not ruling anything out.

BTQ says: Well I see that. Will the baby be a do-gooder like Superman?

Floatinghead says: no i think the baby's mission in life will be to convert us to scientology so that we will let aliens take over our bodies and the planet. i think at that point the department of defense will try to generate it's own counter baby to fight off the evil TomKat baby, only they will mess up because they will use George Bush DNA.....

BTQ says: I think you should totally blog this theory of yours. It’s very interesting and insightful.

Floatinghead says: you know what I think I will.....

Maxing and Relaxing...No Not Really

Yes I haven't posted in a while, but no I haven't forgotten my faithful blog readers that are just itching to find out all things Floatinghead.

For the most part I've been pretty busy with the new gig. I'm interested in how this will turn out because well I've started to think a lot about things that happened to me in the past, and things that I want to accomplish in the near future. For the most part all is well with the exception of a few things (all non-work related).

Friday night KKMK slept over at my apartment. We had fun, but half of the club actually slept while BTQ and I stayed up until 4 am with the bottle of champagne in hand. I made some baked ziti which was gone by the next morning. No one requested eggs, or toast, or cereal. Everyone requested baked ziti, which was weird. It was fun. Saturday Mr. Dynamite and I got beutified and came up with a pretty nifty concept for a video game which we will one day bring to life. Then I went off the Supper Club hosted by Delirium in the Village. It was a nice Scandanavian restaurant with awesome drinks. The food was good but not as good as the alcohol. I wasn't too into the food I guess because I felt a little sick to my stomach. I've been like this since saturday morning and it's still going on today. I'm trying not to eat anything too heavy or greasy so I don't get the icky feeling again.

Yesterday, after some drama, I got to spend some time with mini-pickle and mama pickle. He can walk now, and likes to press buttons a lot (he is such a boy. Anyway, I have got to get to work now my "lunch break" is over. I'll be posting again tonight since I have some other issues to bring up.

Just In Case

If you didn't read my blog entry yesterday nothing much has changed. I'm annoyed. Not only am I annoyed today but I'm anxious. I keep thinking about the same thing over and over again and it frustrates me that I can't do anything about it. Oh great now my mouth is going dry, that's usually not a good sign.

No Luck

It's monday, and to tell the truth I am extremely anoyed today. For several reasons not just one. I really don't feel like going into details right now, which says a lot about how annoyed I am. Normally I just ramble on and on about the minutea that is life.

Nothing major to report about the weekend, I saw Ice Age with BTQ and Tundra and had some indian food on saturday. The event after that were a bit traumatizing so I won't go into it. To top it off my work e-mail is not working properly but I'm sure that will be fixed eventually.

I'm sorry

I really did try to recap on le blog last night but I was just too tired. I only had time to have dinner, pick up around the apartment and then go to bed. This morning I woke up and I'm still tired.

Recap of last week is pretty boring. As you know I quit the land that time forgot. So I took some time off in order to rest and get my act together before starting the new gig. The week went by rather quickly. Monday I went to a yoga class and walked around the city a bit. I had lunch with some old colleagues and just very leisurely sent the day strolling.

On tuesday I went to Brooklyn to have lunch with the people from the Land that time forgot. That was nice, but hard. First I had to drag myself to brooklyn and second running into granma rose was inevitable. I found out all this bad stuff about her after I quit. I turns out nobody wants to work with her and that she's had a lot of turn around in that position for the past 2 years or so. Too bad no one told me before I was hired.

After that then I pretty much stayed home, ran errands, cleaned and napped a lot. I was good while it lasted. Saturday I went hiking with delirium and vudolicious. I will post about that separately because the experience was very unique. i aslo went to a club on saturday night (also a separate blog entry due to the level of holes in my story). I also swear that any one of these days I will post my pictures up.

I started my new gig this past tuesday. So far so good. I'm really busy here which is good. I like to feel useful and have my brain actually working. Anyway, I promise more later on. Got's to go now.

My Apologies

I've neglected my blog tremendosly, but the time has come to set the record straight and I promise this time I will post pictures. I am however a tad busy at the moment so I won't go into details. I will update more this evening.

Floatinghead: The Remix

I haven't been logging current events due to the high lever of activity in my life this past week. Where should I start.

Well, I think I will start with what This Bird has appropriately labeled the bomb. I found a new job and have quit once and for all working in the land that time forgot. I gave them all of 2 and a half days notice and am taking this week off. I'm calling it a much needed sabbatical. Lounging, and getting stuff done around the house before I start the new gig. I am really excited about this new job which will come with a much younger and more creative cast of characters. Once I get settled in I'm sure you'll hear about it. I managed to celebrate the news every day of this past week, which makes me feel like today has been the first time I've been sober since last monday. No more of that though. I've turned over a new leaf.

I'm other news, I went to see the Libertine on wednesday with BTQ and Tundra. The movie sucked! Big time! on the other hand V for Vendetta which is saw yesterday with Delirium and Magpie was very entertaining. I also have to give honorable mention to the Reunion of "team conspiracy corner" which took place on Thursday at blockheads, and to Nina Nano my new travelling companion. More news to come dudes!

Rat Race

This morning's commute was a nightmare, and also goes to prove why I hate the MTA.

I took me 2 hours to get to work, 2 hours. Why you ask? Well simple, there was some sort of explotion on the subway track. the subway was filled with smoke and of course passengers get no information. We quickly realized that no one was coming to tell us what was going on and in an effort to breathe clean air we walked through the carts to get somewhere where smoke got into our eyes and lungs. Not surprisingly, the conductor comes on the line to tell us that the train's emergency brakes were activated and we will be "moving shortly". Lie number 1!!!! hello are you stupid! we certainly know what we saw and we are inhailing. They tell us nothing about getting out or if there is help coming. for half an hour we wait, only to hear that there is a "signal problem" that "help is coming and we will be moving shortly". Lie number 2!!!!

finally when helped arrived the train was moved into the West 4th station and put out of service. I had to take the train uptown to catch another line downtown to make it into work.....Good Grief Charlie Brown!!!

News Flash

I have just figured out that Grandma Rose is the Avon lady of my office!

we all have them, the people in our office that sell us stuff that we don't want or need. We usually have an Avon Rep, the person who's kid is always selling crap from some catalog, and the person who collects money for birthdays, showers of all kinds, etc. Girl Scout cookies are one thing, but avon is completely different. I'm pretty surprised that she hasn't pushed the catalog on me.

The World of All Things Floatinghead

I'm taking a break from work now. For the past 2 days I have been happy and more productive because Granma Rose was sick and was not in the office. During this time I managed to decipher the following:

1. Said employee feels like she must be involved in absolutely everything regarding this institution.

2. The employee also has a fear of change, which means she challenges any and all changes all the time.

3.The employee has fears of being replaced.

4.Employee exhibits signs of feelings of entitlement - like she is owed greatly for all her years of service.

That's just my HR/Psycologist instinct kicking in. Now that I have a full understanding of the way she thinks, I'll be better able to Manage Up. By the way, I hate Managing Up! I was really hoping that when I came here I would be more in a team that in a clear cut boss/subordinate situation. It appears that the situation is going to have to take some changing no matter who likes it or not.

On a much lighter girly girl note, I think I have found the perfect razor for me! I have looked far and wide and have gotten many cuts, bumps and you name it, but I think I found a winner. Venus Divine!

I used it for the first time and loved it. My legs are really silky smooth. I think it was totally worth spending $10 on this to have a comfortable shave.

I'm Back

I went to Verizon last night and got my phone fixed. My relationships will no longer suffer because I don't return phone calls or text messages. The ringtone problem has not been fixed though. Which make me want to complain to them so that I can get my money back. It's really annoying. Since i can't get the picture of Carlos from Mr. Dynamite to post on my site a simple Verison Logo will do.

You know I never got to recap my weekend, but in sum it was good. There was plenty of alcohol involved, including champagne. Fun times!

At this point I would like to give Props! to Shaniqua and Mama Pickle for temporatily assuming the role of CEO of my life until I get back from "sabbatical". They are consulting on a part-time basis for now. So far they have done a good job of kicking me in the butt so that I can execute my "Master Plan". Big Up to the Ladies.

Cell Phone Drama!

Stupid Verizon! I went to the Verizon store to get my ringtone issue fixed on saturday. Briefly for those that don't know, I downloaded three song on to my phone so that I can have different songs for different people, but once i change it they all get switched back to one song, which is Pointless! and defeats the purpose of me paying for the ringtones etc.

So at the store the dude plays with my phone for a while and then tells me that he can't do anything to figure out why this is happening and he can't fix it. Then he says that he reprogrammed the phone and that didn't work either so basically between the lines he is saying You're Screwed Lady. I left the store with the same rintone issues as before and unhappy that Verizon changed me for ringtones that I can't use. Now, worst of all.....I sent all weekend scratching my head ever time someone told me "Oh I left you a message" or "oh I sent you text" because I didn't get any. This morning I was curious and just randomly checked my voicemail and discovered 7 voicemails that I did not get alerts for.

Now i'm really pissed becuase i have to go back there to tell some guy that the other guy reprogrammed my phone and now i don't get text messages and I don't get voicemail alerts. If they don't fix it i'll be really pissed because the first guy messed up my phone not me. I need to text! I need to received my texts! Not only that but I can't even tell who calls me because i can't use the stupid ringtones...

Ice Ice Baby

It will come as no surprise that there is ice everywhere in the streets today. After last nights cold weather the snow completely froze over and no one cleaned their walkways.

I have nothing exciting to report, and nothing fabulous to say. I have absolutely no plans for this weekend at all. No plans, no nothing. Maybe I will go to yoga tomorrow and take in a few moments of deep breathing and flexing my muscles. If anyone out there had anything remotely interesting that is going on in the city please let me know.

It seems like forever

I felt like something is missing. Then i realized I hadn't posted anything on my blog for like a whole 2 days. Anyway, there is nothing really interesting for me to talk about. I went to see Transamerica last night as part of the kkmk. The film was really good, I recommend it.
It's an interesting depiction of mordern day life and puts forth real issues but in a humoruous way. Funniest part of the evening was walking in to the theater with Mr. Dynamite and finding that the rest of the gang was not there. We were all pretty pissed because the subway was horrible to I think that might have played a role. I set of to find Vudolicious, Tundra and Baby Boy. I foung them in the theater next door. They were surprised to know that they were watching the wrong movie.

After the movie we exchanged a great big group hug and set off to our homes. Today I am going to yoga class in the hopes of finding enlightenment.

Team Floatinghead Won!

I would like to extend my thanks to team floatinghead for putting in the effort to make sure that Drew Lachey won first place in Dancing with the stars. That means that Mama Pickle will have to come up from downunder and take me to a nice meal.

In other news, my computer completely crashed yesterday. I went into complete and utter panic and even shed a few tears. I've been trying to buy a zip drive and extra memory for about a month but geeks make this really complicated. I mobilized the troops and got in touch with the Master Computer Fixer on Call which calmed me down and told me how to fix it. The whole experience was very traumatizing and I don't wish it on anyone.

Also, there has been some activity in the execution of what we are now calling The Master Plan but i'm still trying to get rid of some of the anxiety associated with this action, therefore I am not going into detail.

Last Night

Last night I rushed home for 2 reasons. The first is that the exterminator was coming so i had to make sure that I was home before they came. I didn't have many critter sightings inside my apartment per say, but I get the guy to come anyway to prevent infestation. The second reason is that the dancing with the stars final was last night. I had to make sure that I was home in time to settle down in front of the TV with no distraction so that I may watch Drew Lachey kick butt!
If you are a faithful blog reader you would know that I have a bet with Mama Pickle on this so it's very important that Drew win. So I told some of my fellow bloggers to vote for Drew and hopefully they did.

Today is Friday, which I've been looking forward to since this time on Tuesday. I have a few things lined up for this weekend, errands to run, party tomorrow night, some pampering of myself too. Oh, and I swear I'll get to loading some pictures of the trip too.

The Power of Floatinghead

It is my belief that I have dwelled in the depths of depression long enough. I have thought long and hard over this and I realize now that I lost my sense of Power. I'm not sure went it happened or how but I know that it did and now it's time to get over it. I have a way of working towards things that I want and getting things done. I have to reach inside myself for the courage I once knew and almost lost. I want to be an inspiration for those that think they can't do it.

On my way home last night I thought that life has a purpose and I want my life to have a message. Today I choose to take my life into my hands and make my mark.

Quote of the Day

Powerlessness is (mostly) a state of mind!.

Ah the Joys!

In my never ending life built spontaneity I invited Shaneequa and Mr. Dynamote for Indian food last night. I'm glad I did. We laughed until green chutney was coming out of our noses. I'm glad I have good friends that care about each other so much. We came up with our fair share of nonsense last night, but i came up with ths quote:

True friends are those that you can I.M. all day, read their blog all the time, and still have something to say to them afterwards.

I will also like to reintroduce Vudolicious to the blog scene. She is alledging that she will update this blog regularly and we should check it out. She's a pretty smart chick, you should check out her blog.

Back from Beantown

I'm back. I had fun, and it was cold. Overall Trip rating: 4 stars. (I am giving beantown a 1 star penalty for weather) Other than that everything was Great! I have pictures to post but I couldn't get to my computer last night. I was too tired to think, I decided that I was just going to walk around in the 3 pairs of new shoes that I bought while on the trip. I'll post pictures this week.

I was dreading coming to work today. Truth is that change of scenery works perfectly to clear your mind and think about stuff. Especially when you have a few hours of bus ride to work with. I'm sure that I'll be better able to focus now on what is important in my life. I have formulated a few ideas in my head already. The next couple of days should be pretty low key though.

Gross story from the subway. Riding in to work this morning I managed to get a seat on the subway. Most times i can but it was crowded today since it is the day after the holiday and i was running late. So i sit in the middle of a big fat guy on my left and a seemingly harmless young lady on my right. I pull out my magazine and get comfortable to start reading when all of a sudden: I notice that the lady on my right had a cockroach crawling all over her! My strong gag reflexes took over and I started to panic. I think I might have broken into a sweat. She didn't notice. Her stop was next, she got up cockroach in tow and got off the train. Relief for me, the roach is gone, but I still tremble a little thinking about it. The trauma is still fresh in mind.

Friday, February 17, 2006

Today's Quote

It is not Life that matters, it is the courage that you bring to it......

Relief!

The weekend is here. It's friday and a three day weekend, and I got paid today. Awesome. This week has been pretty quiet, although I have to report that I sent $6 yesterday on a fast food dinner. So that means that I have exactly $17 in my wallet. I think I did pretty good considering that previous weeks I had sent hundreds of dollars and have nothing to show for it.

Speaking of shows, Dancing with the Stars was on again last night and of course I had to watch to see how Drew Lachey did and to observe the scores. Mama pickle and I have a small wager placed on who is going to win. I think it's Drew...I won't mention who she is routing for. My team is doing much better of course.

Anyway, tomorrow bright and early we leave for Beantown! I'm looking forward to not being in New York City this weekend and checking out how those people live up there. I have to pack tonight and hit the sack early since we are taking the first bus out of town in the morning. Other than that nothing has much changed. Although I think I may be getting over the whole depression bit. I don't want to be to hasty in mentioning it in case I relapse but for now things are looking up.

Not Much

Nothing much really going on since yesterday. I'm going to yoga today and have thus far managed not to spend any money. I'm still trying to come up with my "Life" Master Plan but that is not coming far along.

Check out some links that I've added to my blog. These are just things that I find interesting.

Valentine's Day Ouch

Great way to start the day. I had my dentist appointment first thing this morning. Ouch. I hate the dentist. Don't get me wrong he was perdectly nice, but it hurts. And it was just a cleaning for goodness sakes! Anyway, I find comfort in knowing that I don't have to go back for 6 months.

The board meeting last night was awesome. It was like being part of a live TV show. It came complete with nasty annonymous letters, back and forth bickering, raised tempers and all. So here is the low down. The board at my complex is really strict. which to me is a good thing. They maintain the grounds well and they don't mess around when it comes to nonsense. Some brave soul decided that they don't like the rules so they sent an annonymous letter to all the tenants of all the buildings in the complex. The letter said that: since we are sharholders and all adults, we should be allowed to decide what we want to do with the property because we own the land. Nothing like an ignoramous to out things back into perspective. The lawyers quickly put this person back in her place by explaining to them the difference between ownership and shareholding. Basically you can't just run amock because you own shares, the complex needs to maintain a stand that will be good towards all, not just what benefits one person. Next ignoramous in the meeting said that he doesn't want a maintanence increase because he is selling his apartment in a year or so so why should he pay the increased maintanence. I can't believe this person said this outloud in a room full of shareholders, how stupid are you really? I'm not dignifying this statement with a response. In sum, all rules will stay the same and there will be a miniscule increase in maintanence fees.

And just as an FYI, I don't have a Valentine and I'm looking for a date if you know anyone that might be a suitable match. I have also made it through all of monday without spending a dime. We'll see about today.

Elaborating

So yesterday I posted something about budgeting and how i am not supposed to spend any money since my wallet is "tight". Well, the plan is as follows. Yesterday I had all of $12 cash in my wallet. This morning I found another $11 in my coat pocket. Finding money is always a treat but my goal is to not spend a single solitary dollar all this week (including friday until 5pm). I'm going to see if this can be done in New York City without avoiding any pre-planned activities. I'll keep the blog updated because this well help me stay accountable to myself.

I made it to work safely. Trekking through three boroughs in 2 feet of snow is not the funnest thing to do, but at least it is really sunny outside. The snow on the ground makes it seems ultra sunny (because of the glare). There is a Co-op board meeting tonight which i have to go to. Some issues are going to be discussed and I'm pretty sure I'll put my 2 cents in as always.

Tight

This weekend was more of a quiet time for me. I didn't do much, stayed home and picked up around the house. Huge snow storm out. After I went to brunch with possibly-j and walked about a little i went to get my eyebrows done and went to the supermarket. I'm glad I did because I got groceries just in time for the big snow storm. There are approximately 2 feet of snow out. Hiking was of course cancelled and the alternate plan was skiing with shaneequa and pal which was also cancelled because the car could not be dug out. So home it was. I did the laundry first thing this morning, and that led to a lot of napping. I have to say i'm still sleepy too which is weird. Maybe it's just the weather.

My goal for the week is: Avoid all things Valentine and pack because I'm headed to Beantown on saturday. I am truely very excited about it since I've never been. Also, I am on a uper budget effective immediately. My Depression lead my to spend recklessly which now puts me in somewhat of a hole. Although it's not really a hole I just need to not spend all my money. I'm still deciding on what to do about a lot of things so i need to make sure that i save just in case the time comes when i want to make drastic changes. Some of you that know me may understand that it's necessary for me to do this from time to time in order for me to stay fresh.

Anyway, that's it for now. Back to work tomorrow...joy (sarcasm).

Waste

Last night when got home and i turned on the tv i bumped into a report about the waste of food, particularly in New York City. I find it amazing that people right here in the city are going hungry but yet supermarkets, delis and restaurants throw away food. I know that not all establishments do this but still it breaks my heart. More so I feel bad for taking things for granted and letting things rot in my fridge. So now i ask myself what can I do to help? I'm doing research on it now but I found this website by an interesting group of people. The call themselves "freegans". They feed themselves from the discarded food they find in the street so check out the website. They also have some information on soup kitchens and recycling (which I am a huge fan of). Just thought this was interesting.

Good Times

My apartment is looking 10 times better and I'm not done cleaning yet. Every day this week I've made it a point to clean something or tidy up and it's really paying off. I like the feeling of lightness that starts to build around me once I get rid of the clutter. Slowly but surely I will get into maintanence mode and I'll be better able to keep things up. I need to go grocery shopping too. I have nothing too eat in my house. My fridge is completely empty with the exception of water, some feta cheese and a ton of frozen vegetables. None of that matches by the way.

Tomorrow is friday and I'm looking forward to the weekend. No official plans for tomorrow night but I asked someone to have dinner with me. If that doesn't pan out, I'll be more than happy to think of an alternative or just going home and relaxing. Saturday I asked possibly-j to brunch. Maybe that will pan out this time (i'm borrowing this name from Magpie since we seem to have possibly siblings in common). Sunday (weather permitting) I will go to a nice hike in Long Island which I am very much looking forward too. I want to get out into nature and bonds with the trees. It'll help clear my mind.

Before I forget, below is my favorite picture from the Lunar Year Parade. Photography by yours truly.

Poll

Attention all faithful Floatinghead readers: I'm collecting data again and I want to know what you think.

When your boss is out of the office for the day, do you find:

a. your productivity goes up, you are better able to concentrate and do work

b. productivity goes down, you slack off more

c. Nothing changes.

Please let me know what you think. You can post your response or e-mail me or call me. Thanks for participating!

Lost

I'm still thinking. So last night I came to the conclusion that I feel Lost. I'm having problems focusing on what I want. Recap: Last year I did a very good job of keeping myself busy. I knew what I wanted and I knew exactly how to get it. This year, not so much. I know I have a few things that I want to accomplish, and of course i have The List but I just don't have any idea as to what it is that I truly want to get out of my time this year. I'm so confused. I need help. I think I will gather the troops and formulate a plan.

For now the plan is to clean the apartment and bring it up to tip top shape. Lst night I built the filing cabinet that I bought, now all i need to do is actually use it. It seems like there aren't enough hours in the day to do things. I think cleaning will help keep my mind off things for now.

I'm going to yoga today. For the first time since like Thanksgiving. I'm starting from scratch again trying to build a practice. I'm looking forward to some quiet time and being active again.

Do you believe in signs?

For those of you that are close to me: is this a sign?

Ride the Train

Feeling tired today due to no sleep last night. Again! I have to see about letting go of all thinking and obsessing over stuff. I don't enjoy this and I think I want to move on to other stuff.

I went to my sister's last night and in order to get to her house I had to take the stupid 7 Train. Out of all the subways lines in New York City this is the only line where you are guaranteed to have 1. a crying child or crying children, 2. no availability of seats no matter what time of day it is and 3. constant pushing and shoving. I hate it. I hate this line because it's always packed, noisy and smelly.

Anyway, the reason why i went to my sister's is because i had to go to staples to pick up a filing cabinet and I was offered a ride home which is always welcomed. I had to start picking up and cleaning my apartment since I had become fearful that I may one day get lost in there and noone would find me. I pictured myself underneath a pile of clothes struggling for my own life. The scene would be very dramatic and I would not be able to reach the phone. So I started cleaning and picking up and so far so good. I fixed my closet. Which leads to my next question: Why is it that if I have so much clothes in so many different styles, colors, you name it, why do i end up wearing the same thing over and over again? This answer to this might never be known, nevaaa!

In other news, today is VoxInfo's Birthday. Please all join in to wish the top conspiracist an Uber happy Birthday!

They do Exist

Had a good weekend overall. SupperClub was a success. We had great indian food and lots of general conversation topics. It's important that we all keep up to date with our lives even though we all know what is going on because we read each other's blogs constantly. I think it's fun that the group dynamic is so intimate.

On satturday I slept All Day! and I mean all day when I say it. I guess since I haven't been sleeping well I just let myself sleep without fighting it. Without having "plans" that I must keep and without forcing myself to make "plans". I woke up at 6 p.m. really well rested and started to call people to see if anything was happening that night. I ended up with Queen C and the twins. We went to one place that wasn't so good at first and then made the ultimate move. Twin 2 caught up to us with his guy model friend and took us to this underground supermodel club on the lower east side. Not only did we get in right away, but we didn't pay to get in. there we met with Naima the girl from top model the TV show, and one of the guys that plays for the New York Knicks I don't remember his name. I would have to look at pictures to see if I can point him out.

I truly felt like I was in the Seinfeld episode where George figures out that these places do exist.

I post and discuss sunday later on since I want to load some really awesome pictures that I took at the parade. I have to prepare for Orientation which means that my day is pretty much a goner. My cube smells like fish which is weird. It didn't smell like that when I got in this morning. it started smelling like that about an hour ago. I don't have tuna today so it's not like I have lunch that is stinking up a storm, in fact I didn't even bring lunch. I wonder who the culprit is?

PayDay

It's Friday and I got paid. I have been thinking a lot but I feel a little better. After talking to Shaneequa and Mama Pickle. I feel somewhat better. I think everything in life is about gaving a purpose, something that drives us. That's why when I lose focus I get unsettled. I am declaring my intention of getting out of this rut and moving forward. Usually when I set my mind to it I can get things done, so off we go. I think this is what I went though in late 2004 when I decided that I make my life and I can't wait for other people to catch up.

Speaking of catching up, I was in a meeting with Granma Rose yesterday and well, I have formulated a proper opinion about her. We were basically trying to use the system to build reports that would allow us to not have 30 million copies of things. While me can Bubbly Pete the IT guy, were building reports and on step 10 when granma rose decided to step in and "Navigate". The meeting turned into a "Laptop 101" session for her and Pete and I quickly lost our cool. That was probably the most annoying part of the day. That and the fact that I am constantly interrupted. Oy Vey!

I went to the gym last night, by myself! I'm so proud of me. I went in and used the eliptical for only 30 minutes though, and then I left because I started to feel icky. I did get Jamba Juice after and then I went home because I had to be in time to watch my new favorite show and biggest guilty pleasure Dancing with the Stars. I just got hooked on that show somewhere along the line. Tonight is Supper Club Night. I am very much looking forward to some good food and laughs with my friends of the Conspiracy Corner. Tomorrow I have nothing planned as of yet, and sunday it's Chinatown day again. I hope i get some good pictures this time.

Touchy Feely Guy

the dude has calmed down a little since i last reported on him, but he is still touchy feely guy and continues to try and get close to me at every chance possible. i have found a new way to avoid being close to him, I switched my printer! Now I don't have to go by his cube all the time to pick up stuff. That will limit the amount of contact that we have. I'm very excited about this and wonder why I didn't think of it earlier.

Maybe it's because I still haven't gotten much sleep and I am still in Rage/Depression Mode. I think way too much I know, but it's just my nature. Tonight I'm going to go run it off at the gym, by myself no less. Mr. Dynamite I don't think is going.

Happy Groundhog's Day!

Stuart

My oldest and most loved roommate!

McFly

Think McFly Think!

Sunny and Cher

I just wanted everyone to get acquainted with sunny and cher.

Thoughts for Now

It's almost lunch and I need to let my brain take a rest. I am still reading the Chronicles of Narnia which are fun. I love to see all the Christian undertones to the story and how obvious they are. The character of Aslan is my favorite, and for some reason in my head he has the voice of James Earl Jones. I guess The Lion King really did it to him, at least in my mind. Now, all the lions that talk that are in movies or books I expect them to have to voice of James Earl Jones. Silly right.

I went to the gym with Mr. Dynamite last night. It was an interesting experience mainly because I don't like the gym and I would only go on such an occassion like this one where I have the safety of a buddy. I only used one machine. I think that is the real reason why I don't like the gym, i don't really need the excess equipment. I did get a kick out of the endorphines (the Original High). Afterwards we went to Jamba Juice and ordered some really awesome shakes to drink on the subway. We are supposed to do it all over again on Thursday. I'm looking forward to it.

Moving On

I am really sleepy today. I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night. I am not allowing myself any more starbucks coffee to help me with this because I need to get back to my regular schedule and caffeine makes me edgy.

I had a semi ok weekend, nothing major happened. Only good thing I have to report is that I may be coming out of that mass circle of darkness that had taken over my head for a whole month. I still have rage, I guess I just direct it to the appropriate parties now instead of subjecting the whole world to it. I'm not fully out of it though, I think I may be in the grieving process now but I can't go into detail about that just yet. Not until I figure out exactly what I'm thinking/feeling.

On to fun stuff. The pickles came to pick me up at work on friday and then we went to get my eyebrows done and have some indian food. I love indian food, it's always so tasty, especially when you go to Jackson Diner in little india which makes all the difference.

Saturday I went to target with GM, I got some stuff that I needed and a new plant to replace Lil' Fella. I didn't mention it before but Lil' Fella died about two weeks ago. I didn't have that much faith in it when I planted it so it didn't come as a surprise to me when I found it all shrivled up and dead. My new plant I have named McFly in honor of the great trilogy of movies of back to the future and it's main character of Marty McFly played by Michael J. Fox. I'm a dork I know. I repotted Cher, which has now become Sunny and Cher since there seems to be a second mini-sunflower growing. They seem to be doing well. Like the real sunny and cher when the sang "I've got you Babe" on Live TV for the first time. After that I had another bout of depression but then decided to go to a party with Queen C which sucked anyway.

I ended the weekend by going to Chinatown for the Lunar New Year with Shaneequa, pal and Mr. Dynamite. The weather was not ideal so I didn't get to see much of the festivities. We had some bubble tea and most of Shaneequa's bothers came except one. We talked and drank and talked and drank. After that I got to visit temple for the first time. It made me feel good and grounded. Since it was my first time Shaneequa had to show me how to do stuff because I was just lost when i went in.

Anyway, I should really get to work now. I'm going to the gym tonight with Mr. Dynamite. Trying to get my "groove back" like stella did only minus the drama.

Rage-a-Holic

Seriously, I'm glad I know how to control my rage at work because people are really getting on my nerves.

1. Get a dollar and buy yourself some Organizational Skills! Why do I have to deal with a folder that contains two folders of stuff inside several other folders. You have a computer..Use it!This idea is of course outrageous in the land that time forgot, because it involves using something called "technology" and the subjects of said nation are very afraid that it uses some sort of black magic to produce something called "spreadheets".

2. Why do you insist on talking over people when they are trying to tell you something. Know when to shut the f*ck up and listen! Remarkable what one can do when our mouths are not busy talking nonsense and rambling on and on and on and on.....

Lawng Island

Yesterday I went to a seminar in "Lawng Island" with Granma Rose. I realised that it creeps me out when I go there. Living in the city I feel safe maybe because it's my comfort zone. I got out the train and had to get a cab to take me to the venue. The have the communal cab situation out on "the Island" so i ended up sharing with another guy. The man was set to be dropped off first, in a very desolate area of a huge mall parking lot. As we were going into this area the first thing going through my mind was that they were bringing me here to kill me and that I should probably take out my cell phone in case I needed to call 911. Nothing happened, the guy was dropped off and then I got taken to my destination.

The seminar was boring, lawyers talking HR law. Not only that there were some seriously annoying HR people in attandance. Mainly those that went with the whole department and asked stupid questions. One of the lawyers (which was also the only man in the room) fell asleep when the other one was talking. That was pretty bad. I felt bad for him, locked up in a room full of women all by himself. Out on a limb with crazy HR ladies. After the seminar I was driven safely back to the train station where I decided to wait in the waiting room since it was so cold. I got creeped out by a teenager that was listening to his mp3 player so loud it sounded like a stereo. That's not that part that creeped me out. He looked at me with a big smile on his face and when I went to sit down he kept on following me with his eyes. At that point I decided that it wasn't that cold and quickly exited the waiting area. In sum, lawng island gives me the creeps.

I am also going to report that I am no longer depressed (for now of course). I have moved on to the second phase: rage. This is a better phase to be in because now I just don't give a rat's ass and I feel like cursing a lot. Also, it allows me to release my anger by way of giving people dirty looks and saying nasty things to them all the time. This is only when I'm provoked of course. Otherwise I just mind my own business and go about my daily life.

New Blogger...Same Ol' Floatinghead

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Mr. Dynamite's blog. He just started it yesterday and he is already hilarious. Please check it out, you can follow my link to Adventures in Afropea or just go to www.jujudigital.blogspot.com.

Yesterday was a bit of a rough day for me. Work was the usual, getting used to Granma Rose and her backwardness or should I say "slowness" amongst other things. After work I went to see Underworld with Mr. Dynamite and Shaniqua. That is such a guy movie. It's all grusome and dark and stuff. And, yes I was squirming, but that's only because all the scenes had blood and things killing other things and nasty yucky stuff all the time. The only thing that guys like about that movie is the fact that the chick runs around in a pleather outfit the whole time fighting weird creatures. Needless to say, her shoes were clunky and very unfashionable. Also, why does the bad guy were a skirt the whole time? We thought maybe it was a "Stella McCartney" couture skirt that he just refused to take off.

Tonight I will be spending the night at my parents because I have to take the LIRR first thing tomorrow to go to a seminar. They live closer to the station and I get free food there so might as well right. Hopefully that will take some of my edge off and I can undepress myself faster. I also think I should go back to normal eating habits and working out again before I hit a bigger slump. I don't want to fall of track of all the things I want to do this year and if I don't get cracking quick I'll fall behind fast. In any event, I have to go to a meeting in about 10 minutes so I need to wrap this up, will update again soon.

D'oh

I'm chewing on the toughest bagel in the world. I can't believe i'm eating this. I took the bus this morning in the hopes of changing up my routine a bit. I got off the subway a stop early, bought the "venti" cup at starbucks and rode the rest of the way into work on the bus. It was pretty painless but bumpy. At times it felt like a Great Adventures ride because I almost fell off my seat, holding my big cup of coffee and my big book of Narnia. I'll have to watch out for that big curve next time.

FYI: Depression, still on. I went home last night and in the hopes of keeping my mind off things I started cleaning my apartment which as you all know is way over due. I made some progess but there is a long way to go. I made myself a tuna sandwich for dinner and then watched some TV until i felt it was time to go to bed. Once I got to bed I started thinking about crap again so I had to take a stop and read some more narnia until I was too tired to keep my eyes open. I have about 4 hours of sleep on me right now.

I think I might go see underworld with the gang tonight but they have to confirm what the story is. If not then I have to maintain my brian occupied, somehow.

Monday Morning Blah

It seems to me that the world is just set out to annoy me today. I think it is just their duty, the woke up today and said if I run into so and so I will do my best to annoy her. My family just woke up and said, I am going to go out of my way to annoy so and so.

I know it's not the world, it's just my mood. I've fallen into the depth of my depression which hasn't happened in at least 2 years. I can't bring myself to discuss it anymore, I just need to get over it. I'm glad I have good friends that try their darnedest to help, but I need to help myself. On top of being depressed, I get mad at myself for letting me fall into this again. I have to formulate yet a new master plan to get over this.

This weekend was a mix of tears, bad mood, and me trying to seem like i'm not in a bad mood (which only takes me so far). Friday I met up with Delirum and the Suparep for drinks and talking. After that I went home and fell a sleep. I was so tired, but that doesn't mean I stayed a sleep, I woke up a few times as usual. Saturday I ran some errands and took a long walk thinking it would help. I then took a nap and decided that maybe I should go out with Mr. Dynamite and friends. That proved itself unsuccessful. Sunday I met up with Magpie and Delirium for brunch and to work on a top secret project. We also went to 5th Avenue where I met with Prada and Sephora since my friend Tiffany was closed. Shopping also proved unsuccessful.

Ok people I'm running out of ideas here.

Blog Time

I need a break, and what better to do than to update my blog. First order of business, work.

I am trying to build a database in access that will make my life a whole lot easier. My access powers are limited so I have called in This Bird, the master of all things web. With her help I'm sure I will make excellent progress. Grandma Rose and I are still adjusting to each other. It's hard when people first start working together to get into a follow. Basically she brought me in because i would bring in some new ideas and such, but she refuses to let go of the old. Oy Vey! I'm feeling a little better about the land that time forgot, mainly because I have located 2 starbucks franchises that allow me to sip my café in the morning. That makes all the difference as I can now interact with people. In other news, I have identified Touchy Feely Guy, which seems to be under the impression that sexual harrassment is cool. Besides the staring at my boobs, he has now graduated to poking to "see if i'm ticklish". Who wants to know if their co-workers are ticklish or not. Needless to say that he is weirding me out and that's not a good thing.

I also continue to be sleep deprived which poses a bit of a problem. I've been drinking Sleepytime tea to help me sleep and going to bed early to no avail. I continue to wake up a few times during the night which makes my body feel like it was run over by a truck. I think I keep hearing noises but it may be my imagination or the fact that when I wake up startled I'm not really awake. I have some plans for the weekend but I really have to reconsider since I need to take it a bit easy.

List Update

To all faithful floatinghead readers:

The list has now grown to 12 items. That means that I may not add any more things to "the List" of things to do this year. It's the same number as last year so I'm not worried, all I have to do is try my best.

Floatinghead World

It's a wonder that I'm still up. I had yet another bad night of sleep so I have not been officially sleeping well for about 4 days which in my world is a long time. It's really yucky outside but I made it to work after all. I have tons to do around the apartment because I really haven't been "home" per say, so if I thought the place was a mess before I won't even try to describe it now. I realize that my life is not anything interesting with the exception of my new social experiment. I won't go into it now, soon enough you will learn. For now I shall continue to run endless errands and try to get some sleep, although the possibility of snowtubing still looms for saturday, I am sure I will get something (anything) done before then.

I went to see Brokeback Mountain with Shaneequa & pal last night. It was good, I don't think it was the best movie ever made ever but it made it's point. Fun with Dick and Jane was in fact hilarious. I went to see that with Mama Pickle on sunday night.

Back in Business

I'm back in New York, and back to work. I got in around 4:30pm last night but since no one was available to pick me up at the bus stop I had to take the train home. I didn't actually get home until 5:30 pm and by that time my bladder was about to burst and I was thoroughly exhausted. I just plopped down on the couch and ate some more birthday cake in lieu of dinner.

I managed to squeeze in an arguement with my stalker last night. In the end we never make any progress, so I don't have much hope left. I really don't want to keep having the same arguement over and over again. That's that, on to other things.

I caught the Lincoln special that was on the history channel last night. It was very good and I am recommending it, they are having an encore this saturday i believe. Watching this last night made me think about slavery. It seems like such a remote and foreign concept to me. What is on my mind now is that I don't know who came up with this. Who in the world thought it would be a good idea to pluck people out of they country to use them in such a way? and who went along with it saying "well ok i guess they must be stupid since they don't act the same way as we do and since their skin is a different color"? Anyway, I think i will be doing more research on this. I also don't understand who came up with the idea of segregation and why they thought it would be awesome to make people use different water fountains based on skin color. It's hard to undertand the logic of different times. I guess that's what progress is all about. If anyone can recommend books or sites that will help me do some research please don't be shy.

Life is Suffering

Mini-Pickle made the biggest stink so early in the morning, poopie diapers are not my favorite things to smell at this time of day. As you can tell I am still out of the New York City area. I think my obsession with New York is growing. Last night I dreamt that I was in New York and I was meeting someone for coffee at Starbucks. Needless to say Starbucks id no where near here so you can't just walk over and get a cup for breakfast.

I've been thinking a lot as usual. I felt a bit sad last night for various reasons. This morning, before getting out of bed, I kept thinking about those things that made me sad. As as I thought more and more I realized that life is suffering. Yes we may be unhappy now, but this is not forever. We are not going to be in the same situation all the time. We have to beleive that someday at some point in time things will be different. The current situation is meant to teach us something and that once we realize what that is we can move on.

I'll be back home tomorrow. Soaking in the fresh air for one more day.

The weekend of MLK

Long weekend ahead. My bag is packed, my ticket purchased and I'm ready for some much needed pickle time. Mini-Pickle turns 1 tomorrow and there is a little celebration planned, nothing major, but as always I'm head picture-taker and must be there with ample time to prepare.

I learned a lot from reading the worry book. I am having some difficulties putting things into practice but eventually I think I will get there. I'm really looking forward to some quiet Maryland time this weekend. Hopefully I'll have time to reflect and get my act together. I've been a little off track lately since I was sick. I had to stop the Detox, I haven't been sleeping, etc etc. Maybe this weekend will put me back on track.

It's funny how a weekend that is dedicated to a person that made such a big difference goes by with so little fanfare. I know there are some remembrance ceremonies and things like that but you don't see them advertized anywhere until the day of. You don't see any TV commercials or anything as it relates to MLK. Maybe we just have to take it upon ourselves to discuss with out friends and educate others as to why this man was important and how he changed our culture.

Patience is a Virtue

I was fine this morning. Still a little sick and tired but otherwise, good. Commute was good and everything. Then I got to work. And I got annoyed, over stupid things too. Now I have no patience for people that I've given the same information to at least 4 times, no patience for stupid payroll employees, and no patience for anyone that can't notice that it's 8:55am and I still have my coat on so maybe they should come back later to ask me the same question they asked me yesterday.

I need to take a walk and take a deep breath. I guess maybe I'm just irritable because I'm still sick. I also want to share another section of the Worry Book that I thought was interesting:

Failures are but the pillars to success. To learn by our failures is to achieve success. To never have failed is never have won. Unless we experience failure and its attendent forces, we shall not be able to appreciate to the full a victory. It becomes merely a turn in events that is of little or no interest to us. Failures not only help us to success, but make us kind, sympathetic, understanfing and rich in experience.

We can interpret this in many different ways. I take a look at my life and things that have happened to me recently and I see the meaning of this short paragraph. Each experience we have, either positive or negative, helps us learn and become better people. Understanding the lesson and applying it to our life is the key to building better experiences in the future.

The Search for Enlightenment

Not much going on so this is going to be a quick post. I'm still sick. Surprise, surprise, I'm at work. Taking cold medicine and stuff to see if I get better in time for Mini-Pickle's first birthday. Still searching for enlightment, as always. Worry book is a big help. I think I don't eat chicken anymore either which would make me a vegeterian. Will update when possible.

Quote

This is a paragraph from the book that I am currently reading called, Why worry? I think we can all learn from this:

What are you here for? What is the purpose of your life? Apparently very few children ever think if asking themselves this question. Indeed many people will go through their whole llives from birth to death and it will never occur to them to consider the matter at all. The result is that there is no development at all. They have allowed everything to happen to them instead of they, themselves, making things happen for themselves. Only very few have realised that the purpose of life is growth, progress from ignorance to enlightenment and from unhappiness to happiness.

Just some food for thought. I think this is the way I intend to lead my life, sometimes I just get off track and need a reminder. In any case, i'm off to bed. I have a cold and took some Nyquil and I think it's starting to work.

Why Worry?

So I set out to read Chronicles of Narnia which was the gift that my Kris Kringle gave me. I feel after watching the movie I might as well get the "real" version of events from Mr. Lewis himself. This after seeing Memoirs of a geisha which was truly dissapointing. I'm glad I read the book first and frankly nothing compares to reading. It's nice to see things brought to life, but the movie that you create with your own imagination is always best. The movie lost most of the main points of the book and was choppy at best. Even if you have not read the book you will be able to follow it and make sense of the story, but there is just no comparison. I strongly suggest reading the book first if you can.

Speaking of Narnia, I have set down the book for a while and have instead picked up Why Worry? by K. Sri Dhammananda. It's a book based on Buddhist beliefs that speaks of different aspects of our life and how we can get rid of all negative thoughts. I picked up this book because last night I couldn't sleep, mainly thinking about crap and I remembered Shaniqua got me this book and recommended I read it before bed time that way I can absorb it's meaning. So far it has a lot to say about our daily lives and it makes perfect sense.

Much Ado about Nothin'

Detoxification of my body has begun. Oficially I cannot eat any junk whatsoever. Yesterday was the getting used to this day. I went through the shock of not havng much sweets and eating only good for you stuff. After binging on cake, cookies and all that is bad for you, your body can really get used to it. Now it's all about tea and water, fiber and vegetables. It's only for about 2 to 3 weeks, then I get back to my healthy eating habits, running and yoga as usual.

Update on my roommates. Stuart is doing wonderfully of course. He just get's bigger and bigger by the minute. Now that he has the new pot, which is bigger, he has the potential to grow into something massive. Cher is actually growing out now. I have one little thing poking out of the soil, and it has roots. I hope it turns out to be a pretty sunflower that I can transfer to another pot but I don't know if it has the power to do that. It's a mini-sunflower so I may just have to keep it in the little pot. Lil' Fella not my pride and joy at this point. It gave me hope last week with one leaf that was looking good and healthy. Now, that same leaf is dark and dry (even though I put enough water int it). I think the roots were too dry to begin with so they might not be absorbing the water. I'll give it another week or so, then I'll consider chucking him and getting a new plant.

I finally got around to watching "Madagascar" which was funny but not sooo funny. I guess I just didn't think too much of it because there have been so many great animated films lately, and after all there will never be another Finding Nemo. I also took it upon myself to sit through "The terminal" with Tom Hanks. OMG! how boring is that movie, in the end nothing made sense. Nobody told me or forced me to watch it so I can't blame anyone else. I can blame Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks for making a horrible movie. I was so surprised to see the spielberg name at the end, I scratch my head and thought I was hallucinating. I say to myself "speilberg did that!"

I am here in the land that time forgot today and I am plotting and being my usual self. I need to figure out what is better for my career in the long run. Right now, I'm bored because it's all very mundane and I haven't gotten the go ahead to start on some projects that I'm interested in implementing. I do know that I want to go to grad school and maybe a low pressure job will help with that but in the end, my mind needs to be constantly stimulated otherwise I get bored and start, well you know, thinking about stuff.

It's O-V-E-R

The holidays are over. atleast for me that is. Now i can breathe and concentrate on my various obsessions.

GM eneded up coming over last night so it was just the 2 of us. We drank wine and played scrabble. Bad combination!we had fun and kept each other company which i think was the whole point. we were at home, comfortable and crowd free. Today I did an awful lot of nothin'. When we woke up we decided to go to Starbucks for coffee and then we went to home depot. I finally bought the doorknobs and it turns out the task is not as easy as it may seem. I called reinforcements which are coming tomorrow. After lunch I took an awesome long nap. Hence the reason I am still up bright eyed and bushy tailed. I can't get to sleep, because I'm not sleepy.

Got to tell you though that I'm a little concerned. I think my bank may be stealing money from me. I just balanced my checkbook and it seems that for the 4th month in a row they have 9 dollars and 8 cents less than me. I wouldn't be much of an issue otherwise but for the past 3 months i just went ahead adjusted the amount and started at the same level as the bank. Guess what it's been happening every single month now for 4 months so that means it's 36 dollars and 32 cents now. Even stranger is that it is the sameamount every month. So now I am going to look for my statements and make sure i have every transaction down. Then I'll call then and give them an ear full.

No plans for tomorrow except start the detox and put in the new doorknobs. I don't want to do much, i'm such a lazy bum i'll be just taking naps all day.

The Ultimate Eve

Today is the day. I finally got over the fact that i practically have no concrete plans. Thus far it is 3 o'clock and plans have been made and broken about 5 times. From my experience this is a sign that I should stay home and just call it a day. I did manage to make it to my dermatologist appointment, get my nails done and clean up around the apartment so I think it's been a successful day. I also managed to upload a year's worth of pictures into my computer, now I have to distribute them which tends to be the hard part.

My wheels are already churning thinking about the new year and all the possibilities and all the work that lies ahead of me. I am starting to strategize about my job possibilities, school and other ventures I would like to pursue. Guess it wouldn't be like me unless I did this. First thing tomorrow i have to go grocery shopping because i cannot even begin to detox with all the junk i have in my fridge now. that's it for now. hope everyone had a good holiday! at least I got an extra day off out of this.

Crying Game

I'm trying really hard not to cry. The whole New Year's Eve thing is getting on my nerve. I hate this stupid holiday every year is the same thing. Last year I cried and then I got to hang out with all the married people that seem to go out of their way to make you feel as though you're less than because you don't have anyone.

I just feel like crying today.

bad lesbian smelly girl

Ok I don't have a boy to play with currently which is fine. I haven't lost complete hope that I will one day find one and move on with my life. So I was talking to shaniqua about boys and being as she doesn't have this problem (since she is a lesbian) I think it's hard for her to sympathize. So I said to her Maybe I should become a Lesbian?! and she blurts out to me that I would make a horrible Lesbian, and would bring down the whole community because I'm "too girly". Ok, why the hate. True it would be a problem because I like boys, I don't like girls that way but "too girly". Fine, it will never work but hey at least I like to have options.

I also feel like I smell. I have never smelled, never been told that I smell, and I am a really clean and well groomed person. Yesterday though, i got the strange sense that I smelled and I needed to go home to take a shower. Maybe it was because it was so hot in the office that I was sweating all day just sitting in my chair. By the time I left I felt almost de-hydrated, smelly and yucky. Oh well, that's that. It's not hot in here as of now. We'll see after lunch.

Motto For Life

That's why I'm gonna
Say goodbye to all the tears I've cried
For every time somebody hurt my pride
Feeling like they won't let me live life
& Take the time to look at what is mine

I see every lesson completely
I thank God for what I got from above

I believe they can take anything from me
But they can't succeed in taking my inner peace

Year End stuff

I can't seem to stay asleep these days so I always wake up at about 3:30am for no reason. Saty up for a few minutes and then go back to sleep. This has been making me really tired in the morning and I end up waking later than usual. This causes me to feel sick for a good part of the morning.

My life seems so much more mundane now. I'm getting used to not working in manhattan. That doesn't mean that I don't miss it because i still do. After the holidays I'm sure that I'll go back to my normal paranoid self and over analyze everything that happens in my life. I should also let you know that thus far I have 10 things on my 2006 List to some that may be a lot but since last year I had 12 I am allowing myself 2 open spots for some interesting stuff that might come along. I'm pretty lucky overall to be able to do all the stuff that I set out to do, that goes to show you, anything can happen if you just put your mind to it.

That's OK

Ok so now i'm pissed about the transit strike all over again. Since I wasn't able to come in on Tuesday I will now have to take an unpaid day. Originally we were told that the Land that time forgot would not penalize staff for the day. Well today they changed their minds and said that people that were unable to come in should use a vacation day. But guess what? I'm new so I have no time off. Technically I do have one day already but I don't want to use it, I want to save it for my vacation. Well, at least I got to do my laundry that day.

I also need to inform that my stomach hurts. I know it's because I've eaten so much junk over the holidays. Starting January 1st I will be doing detox for 2 weeks to clean my system and hopefully get back to eating right again. While I detox do not encourage me to eats sweets, or fast food or anything unhealthy (i.e. anything with caffeine in it or any alcoholic beverages).

Christnnukah Summary

In sum this is what I did these three days:

Friday

I went straight home from work. Big glamour night cleaning my apartment. I managed to make some progress and clean up a few things. Really I just picked up stuff and straightened out a few things. At this point my apartment started to feel lighter. I am a firm believer that a big mess around makes you discombobulated to I was happy to notice the difference so quickly.

Saturday

Oh the joy of Xmas eve. I got up and got to work on making cookies to bring over to my mom's house. I made gingerbread and chocolate chip. Then I pretty much just lounged a bit, killed time cleaning some more and then got ready and went to my mom's for xmas eve dinner. Overall we had a nice time, my sister and brother in law came over as well as Shaniqua and her niece Debbie. I got a step ladder and a certificate to home depot from my parents, and a dishrack from my sister. Santa Claus just isn't the same anymore. After dinner and some present opening Shaniqua, Debbie and I went to my apartment and hung out drinking tea and watching tv.

Sunday

I basically lounged in the morning and then went to my sister's house for a few hours. We then packed the car and did the go around to other people's houses. We ate their food and chatted and drank their liqour. That may explain why mys tomach still hurts till today. I got home at around 7:30pm and started cleaining my bathroom. From the looks of it I cleaned more than anything else this weekend, but it was necessary.

Monday

No cleaning for me yesterday. I met up for lunch with Magpie and then we went to Barnes and Noble and got some books. I think I need to get over my obsession with hard cover books and just realize that paperback is not that bad. I just think it's not a book unless it's hard cover. Then we went to see King Kong which in my opinion was pretty good. The overall story was captured well over all. The beginning was a little slow but the middle and the end made up for it.

Christmas Time...No More Strike

So yes the strike is over and I can get around without having to wait for other people. Awesome. My body is tired. I guess from all the back and forth. My neck, back all the way down to my "siatica" are tense and hurt a bit too. I'm sure I'll get to relax over the weekend.

I have made it my mission to get my apartment cleaned up before the New Year's Eve, so i'm making a list of everything I need to do to have a spotless apartment. I made holiday cookies for my co-workers today. They seem to be enjoying them but all I hear is that I'm not helping their diet. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve at my mom's house. I'm looking forward to that this year since I actually don't live there anymore.

Birthday Wishes

I would like to extend a Happy 21st Birthday!!! to D3, you know who you are. Now you are officially old and can't get away with stuff you could before. On the upside, now you can do all this great stuff that you couldn't before because you were "too young".

Anyway, my eczema is acting up again. It's really uncomfortable and itchy. I think it's a combination of the weather and the stress of not having the subway.

Still A Strike

Well last night i took us 4 hours to get home. Yes, You heard right, 4 hours of being trapped in a car with nowhere to go. watching headlights burn out from applied breaks all the time. I miss the subway. I miss reading on the subway. I miss being able to go places independently of other people. I am seriously considering buying a car. I have never wanted a car because I just condiser it a nuisance and it's so expensive. I am really looking forward to the weekend, i hope the strike is over by then.

In other news, my apartment complex is decorated to the max now. It looks so pretty. I wanted to take some pictures but being as I was too tired I couldn't do it last night. Maybe tonight. If I get home at a decent hour.

Floatinghead's Day Off

Yesterday I basically took the day off from work because of the transit stike. I'm not going to discuss it any further. I just have to wait until the whole thing blows over and we get back to normal. I actually contemplated getting a car today but it's too expensive. I really can't afford it. I was driven in to work by a worker today. We did a car pool thing that worked out pretty well.

I do have to report that I partially cleaned my apartment. I cleaned up a bit in the kitchen and cleaned the coffee table so that the Christmas decorations are not overwhelemed by everything else on the table. I also started growing Cher, the mini sunflower garden that the nemisis gave me for Christmas. Hopefully the seeds will grow nice and pretty since Lil'Fella is truly a disappointment and I think I'm going to through it out. I also sorted some of the laundry I had piled on the floor and actully washed the whites. Now I just have the laundry basket in the middle of the livingroom like all normal people. I wanted to fisnish up today but obviously I can't turn down a ride into work. I also made cookies for my maintanence people and gave it to them with a Christmas card, they were very excited and thankful that I thought to do that. I guess that was the whole point.

I will see how the commute back home is, I was told I was going home with the same people that I came in.

Transit Strike

I'm assuming all other blogs based out of New York will be basically reporting the same thing today. We Have no transportation! I have not made it a secret that I strongly dislike the mta the twu and all it's people, I know. I need to a make a few things clear.

The twu can argue it's point all it wants to, however their failure to be realistic is what gets to me. They should be more willing to go to negotiations with an intent to actually negotiate not have this all or nothing approach which is what I think they are doing. They want more money, so do i. They want the mta to not file grievances, i want to be paid to do nothing too. They want to leave the retirement age as is, i want to be able to retire. What most people don't get about this retirement stuff is that in most if not all cases, when at age 55 someone retires form the mta and start collecting their pension, they usually get a job somewhere else as well. so the get to collect the pension and have all the benefits, and work for another company taking a job from someone that needs it.

It's just not right for the poor people that work in new York to have to pay for the mta's big awful mistakes all the time. if the twu really wanted to do damage to the mta, why don't they let riders in for free. Becuase that will hurt the mta tons and it won't affect the riders. but it's all about squeezing that last dime from the pockets of those people that are not doing well to begin with.

I am ashamed that they can be so selfish and it saddens me that it comes to this. I hope this gets resolved as quickly as possible. Otherwise, I will lose the last bit of faith i have in people.

Zappening

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. I had a good weekend overall, just enough social time to rest time ratio. I went home on Friday night and basically did nothing but watch TV and talk on the phone with Mama Pickle. We barely get to talk anymore it seems since we are busy during the day and she doesn't sign on to Aim anymore.

Saturday I repotted Stuart and the plant that used to live in stephanie's fish bowl. I named the plant Lil' Fella since it looks like it really does not have the potential of coming back to life. I am giving it a try though, not giving up on the Lil' Fella just yet. I also have to pot my sunflower which the Nemisis gave me for Christmas. I read the instructions twice so I don't mess it up. So I have to soak something for 24 hours before I can plant it. Will update when I have more progress on that. I also went to GM's Holiday Mingle thing on Saturday night. It was just a few friends and some food. Nice distraction. I sent out my holiday cards as well. Just like 7 of them since I'm not sending them to everyone I know.

I have also decided to make some cookies for my maintanence people. I thought it would be nice to do that for the Holiday since I am not getting anyone presents this year. I have done no cleaining so don't ask about my apartment. it's still a mess.

Long Time Coming

I just figured out right now that I should really take my own advice. I keep giving people all this good advice and then when I ask then for some I get the same stuff back. They're like "you told me to do this, and it works". So maybe I should take my own advice from now on.

Life

I have more than I few comments to post especially about the MTA but I think I shouldn't focus on their stupidity today. I was supposed to go out tonight but I'm not sure if it's even going to happen. I for one am not for going out to day so it's one of those things where I would have to be notivated by my date. My date is being crappy and shady so I don't think it's going to happen.

I want to go to yoga again tomorrow, which means I would have to be in bed early. I forgot to mention that when I went to yoga on wednesday and this older man that was in front of the class kept breaking wind all through class. I thought it was funny but I had to hold in the laughter.

I started reading Memoirs of a Geisha becuase i want to read it before I see the movie. I finally finished the 100 years of solitude and it really felt like it took a hundred years to read. I have to keep practicing my spanish so that I can be a more effective reader.

Work is going good. Slowly, but good. I have to buy a present for my Secret Santa. It's hard being the new person because I don't know what people like. Gift Card! Always a good alternative. I have been oficially "labeled" at work too. Now I have my name on the outside of my work station. The openness of my cube is starting to bother me more and more each day. It's not a nice office like I had in the 7th circle of hell, it's a cube. I can deal with a cube but I can't deal with an open cube. I feel like I have to whisper all the time, and people walking about all the time is very distracting. The other day they just decided to congregate a few feet away, just chatting away without even thinking twice that people (and by people I mean me) are trying to work. So for a good 15 minutes I got nothing done. My manager Granma Rose discussed the possibility of getting me some walls with the facilities person but they said there are non available as of yet. I guess I''ll just have to deal.

Hatred...great way to start the day

So i figure I would start by discussing my total hatred of the MTA and its people as a whole. Yes, this is a very strong statement but honestly, I think it's well deserved. Just to think that they are threatening to strike again and during this time of year really burns me up.

So you want a raise huh? You want an 8% raise? Guess what....Noone in the city has gotten an 8% raise since 2000! Why do you feel you are so deserving. Us little guys have to deal with 3% increase if we even get one at all. And I'm sure you work hard,(Not!)but you don't pay to take the subway so maybe you should start doing that. So, not only do you get a raise, but you don't have to pay to get to work either. You know working at a hospital never gave me free access to healthcare all the time!.

So for the little people this means that in the very near future we will have to pay higher fares to get on the subway, paying for such fares with the same salaries we have been getting for the last 3 years since our companies can't afford to give us a raise.....

Did I mention that I hate the MTA....I took me an hour and 20 minutes to get to work today and I was frozen solid when I got here. I hope you all Transit Union people are home warm and toasty, don't count on my sympathy.

A la Floatinghead

It's so typical me to get all discombobulated for what seems like no reason at all. Why is it that I start to think about things and strategize my next move and outline how i want things to be all the time? Why can't I just sit back and enjoy the moment. Frankie says Relax! That is what I have to remember. According to Vudolicious, I'm losing the way of buddha. So I have to start reading up on that again, so that I can combobulate myself quickly.

My stove is being delivered today and I asked my mom to be there when it comes. I'm sure that by the time i get home I won't be able to find anything, as I'm absolutely sure that she will be rearranging my whole apartment. I'm also going to try to make it to yoga tonight, this all rests on how the stove thing goes and if i need to be there for anything afterwards.

My feelings of inadequacy have returned with a vengeance. Again I'm not sure why, but i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that I'm adjusting to certain changes, and furthermore, even though I have plenty that I have done to be proud of this year, I still have this one area which I feel I am lacking in. I keep thinking to myself that anyone person cannot have all that they want when they want it, but I sure wish I could.

Weird

I noticed something yesterday and today here in the land that time forgot. I notice that I am the only one that constantly eats around here. Not like i eat a lot but still. I have breakfast, a snack. I go to lunch and I snack in the afternoon. It seems that noone else here eats. People just stay at their desk and I guess feeds off air all day. I notice a few people get coffee in the morning but that's about it. Now I wonder if they are really people. Maye Library people don't eat or worse of all drink water. I don't see that many people go to the water fountain either. I will continue to observe.

Bitter Cold

I feel much better today even though it's like zero degrees out. Last night I was supposed to see the Walmart Movie with Magie, the Nemisis and Vox but they had to work late so I went home. it was the best thing I did because I was so tired. I just got home and took a long hot shower, made myself some herbal tea and was in bed by 9:30pm. Warm and Toasty. I did wake up once because the phone rang but other than that I got plenty of rest which I needed badly.

In other news I need to clean my apartment. It's really getting to me this time. I have a pile of clothes which looks disgusting on the floor next to my bed. I just need to put it in the laundry bag but why is that such at task? It's not like a have tons of walking to do since i live in a new york city apartment. But anyway that's just one thing, I just have to clean the place so that I looks organized and smells like a meadow (if meadows smell like Lysol these days). So there you go that is my story, and i'm sticking to it. No plans for today.

Not so Peachy

it's monday and I am super irritated right now. i just don't feel like being here. I'm sleepy, tired and uncomfortable. Maybe it's because of lack of sleep. I really want to go home and sleep right now since I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I'm so crancky. I think I just need rest. And I don't understand why I get depressed too. Like last night I started to get depressed. I'm trying to push it to the back of my mind. It's not working.

Quick Overview

The weekend was good for me. In sum, Thai food - Good, Yoga - Good, Narnia - Good!, Shopping - Good. I finally bought the stove. It cost me a hefty chunk but everyone keeps telling me it's worth it. After buying the stove I felt a little nauseous spending sooo much money on a stove. So after that I did what any girl would do. I went shoe shopping and bought 2 pairs of shoes on sale. I know that doesn't help my bank account but it makes me feel better. At least I can where the shoes, I can't wear a stove now can I?

I had a dream last night that included Dr. Brain. As you may or may not know I am not really dating him anymore but I think I have unresolved issues that I need to address because that is what was happening in the dream. I'm not sure if I really need or want to talk to him though. I think I should just get over it and move on. We'll see how this plays out.

Read This

I was reading this article and thought it was interesting:

Spanish at school translates to suspension

I agree with the parent in this case. It's not like the kid was speaking spanish during class or requesting that classes be taught in spanish, it's just a comment in the hall way. You make up your own mind.

Let it Snow Let it Snow

It's Friday...WooHoo! I'm supposed to go out with Magpie and the Nemisis today, hopefully they won't change their minds because of the snow. We are going to get Thai food at a great restaurant I just tried last week.

Anyway, it's snowing real hard, we expect about 9 inches of snow. It looked really nice this morning when I looked out the window. The only day to enjoy the snow is actually the day tha it snows. After that then it just becomes slush and a nuisance. Enjoy it today if you can...me I'm at work already. It took me an hour and a half to get it. Mainly because you have to walk slower and the subway gets all messed up so you have to change your usual route. Speaking of work, i got my first paycheck today. Well I go my stub yesterday but it was deposited into my account today. Bigger check for me this time around and I'm contribution to my retirement plan too. I had stopped when I bought the apartment because I couldn't afford it. I looks like i'm back on track now.

Last Night

I took it upon myself to start Yoga again. I need to get into a routine and not let myself fall of the wagon again (or is it on the wagon? I never know what's what). So i went a bought myself a 20 class card that way I am committed no matter what. It also gives me a chance to get back to Manhattan, which as you know I miss dearly.

Since I haven't had a regular practice in about 6 months I'm starting slow and building back my strengh. I took a semi-into class and I felt good. I'm not completely unbalance but I am definately not the same as I used to be. Somehow, the teacher still managed to figure out that I knew more than I was leading on to know and made me do some demonstrations for the class. I'm glad I went though, it put some things back into perspective.

So far no plans for tonight but have plans for tomorrow and saturday, sunday is usually designated floatinghead rest day.

Observation

So the land that time forgot seems to be quite taken by the arrival of the Floatinghead. In sum, I think some people need to adjust and come to terms with the fact that I have boobs and that I can't hide them. I know it takes a while, but fact of the matter is, we work in Human Resources and if you stare enough it could be construed as sexual harrassment. I'm not saying anything really I think they just need an justment period. They'll get over it eventually.

Mourning the Loss

My beloved fish Stephanie died today. It was a freak accident I suppose. The nemisis was watching him during the transition period from one job to another. Although the nemisis feels very bad about this i told her she shouldn't worry because it was bound to happen, it was just his time to go.

I'm not sure if I will get a replacement fish. It's just a bit painful right now to think about it.Farewell dear stephanie, may you rest in peace.

And the depression continues

I wonder how long it will be before I snap out of this rut. For today I feel somewhat better after being completely and totally depressed all weekend long. For the most part it's little things that are adding up to my discombobulation. I lost my hat on Saturday night which put me over the edge. A little history - the hat that I have always worn during winter time belonged to my brother, he passed away when I was 7. It's not the fact the I lost the hat that gets me upset, it's the comfort that it brought to me. So now i feel like i'm missing yet another part of me which i can't replace. I was devasted and started crying in the cab on my way home. The cab driver instantly became driver/therapist on the spot. Another example of boys not being able to handle crying girls.

For the most part work went well today. i have plenty to do and have loads to think about. The fact of the matter is that they really haven't had a designated person doing this job, they just moved someone into the manager role because they needed a body. Now they've got themselves a specialist that is finding problems with everything. The only thing I'm not liking is the fact that my new boss keeps referring to me as "my assistant" which ticks me off. I'm not her assistant, i don't type for her, answer her phone or sort her mail. I'm biulding plans and programs and fixing mistakes and such. I guess she doesn't know of another way to tell people that I'm the benefits person that works with her and it's ok to come to me with questions and such.

By the way I need to clean up my apartment, it's been rather neglected because of my depression issues. I better get to it before I can't find myself here. I think cleaning will help my depression too, since it always makes me feel good when things are clean.

Also, since the year is coming to and end, i have also started working on my LISt for next year. This year went FABU since i completed 9 out of the 12 things I wanted to do. I shall update when I have the final list. For those of you that have decided to join we can keep each other motivated, just let me know.

A Floatinghead Grows in Brooklyn

Ok so now it's been like 4 days at my brand new job, and of course I have observations. I have choosen to call my new place of employment The land that time forgot, that's just for now. MainlY i was brought on board to revamp a whole lot of stuff and i'm beginning to see why. I like doing stuff like this so It's really good for me to be involved in creating and implementing and stuff.

For the most part everone is very nice and pleasant but I really really miss my friends, all of them. That's the only thing I miss from my old job, is the people. Oh, and the commute. My commute now is rough - mainly because of all the waiting. I mean just train time from my house to work is 40 minutes but all the waiting for this train and then the next connection to the other train makes it soooo much longer. The good thing is I get a seat on the subway so I basically put on my make up, eat breakfast (yes a whole breakfast) and read a book. Other than that no more news. I really miss my friends though, and the island of manhattan but i think this was meant to be in one way or another.
