Labor Day has Passed
For me, Labor Day was filled with home improvements and reflection. Which means that I'm now drained. I actually made it to work today. I surprised myself...I was so tired yesterday I really thought I wasn't going to make it. After spending the day with BBF being a tourist in my own city, I hit the sack early and actually slept. I think that's what allowed me to be somewhat coherent today.
So back to the home improvements. I'm going to call it more like the continuation of the Great Purge of 2008. This are coming along and neatly falling into place. I'm glad I did this now because later this week I start school. I can't say i'm excited but I welcome the chance to be a bit more outside my head. These days that's about the only place I go...is in my head. That's part of the whole reflection thing. I'll be fine in no time though.
I hope you all enjoyed your holiday...and enjoy the week ahead...

Not Much
Oh, and I'm also trying this new thing where I only focus on getting through one day at a time. So far it's working but it's only been a few days. We'll see how that goes...I'm optimistic.
I hope you all have a good week. Enjoy.

Beach Day Fun
Time for my weekly update. I hope you all had fun this weekend...in New York City it has been marvelous and quite enjoyable. This week was crazy busy at work again. It's not going to die down any time soon but I'll get through somehow. I took the last of my summer Fridays and went to get my nails done and walked around in the afternoon. Then I went to Sister Sister's house to watch a movie. It rained tons in the evening but we watched The Women and laughed and talked about crap. The Women is one of my favorite movies...they are remaking it and i'm pretty upset over it. I think they will probably ruin the whole story.
Yesterday was nice brunch with TK and friend lead to some walking around street fairs in lower Manhattan. For some reason the galleries were all closed. Go figure, but it was nice to hang out with him and get scoops that I've missed out on. Today was a total good beach day with KAO as the subject line would suggest. We stayed just the right amount of time for me to get darker but not long enough for me to erase those icky tan lines I acquired on Memorial Day. Even though the picture looks crowded it really wasn't. We picked a good area to bunker down in so we our space wasn't intruded on. It was really nice, relaxing, fun and uncomplicated. Subway to train, everyone is on time, train to beach, beach to diner for burgers, diner for train, and then a lovely walk home. How nice is that.
Now I'm preparing for tomorrow and this week. I'm anticipating the worse of all this week and hope I don't cry in frustration. Seriously, late nights and stress are not my favorites, but at least I know I'm earning my wages in an honest way. It's not in my nature to slack off and then complain about work....at least I know I'm doing my best and that gives me the right to complain..
I hope you all have better weeks ahead then I do.
Cheers for now.

Wrap Up
This past week was rough. Getting back from vacation is always difficult but I couldn't get over the fact that I was out for 3 days and it felt like I was gone for weeks. I came back to a ton of e-mails, voicemails and a pile of mail. For goodness sakes, when did we start punishing people for taking the time off that they deserve. In the end I got through it. I took off Friday too. It would seem like I would feel bad taking the time off but it's either that or lose it....not just the time, but my mind too. Next week i'm taking off Tuesday and Friday to take care of some things at home. I shall not feel guilty about that.
I really did enjoy the long weekend to the fullest. Friday I went to the doctor and enjoyed some of the afternoon in the city. Then I just came home and relaxed and watched Oprah. Saturday was the most random day i've spent in a long time. Thanks to the bizarre actions of KAO we had brunch, went to the park and got some Pinkberry for no reason whatsoever. Ending up at Columbus Circle people watching and watching the sun hide behind the towers.
The best part of this whole weekend was being about to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics. It was a spectacular show with loads of color and excitement. I was quite impressed let me tell you. The rest of this afternoon I might watch some more of the events. I like watching the more obscure events because the little countries actually stand a chance at those.
Hope you all have good plans this week.... Cheers!

Back in the Empire State
Today has been a perfectly gorgeous summer day. PERFECT. I woke up and saw the sun for the first time in days. Went to brunch and did some light shopping (I had to get my copy of Breaking Dawn, HAD to) with Sister Sister. Then it was back to the fantasy apartment complex that looks like a park and you can sit outside and read Eclipse to your hearts content. I figure I would come up now and start settling in, maybe make some dinner and watch a quick movie before Mad Men, my favorite TV show ever, comes on. The day started early and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I can't stand wasting nice days....there is plenty of time to sleep when you are dead...enjoy life while you have it.
The Sunshine State was good while it lasted. Only they should change the slogan from now on because it rained the whole time we were there. That didn't stop us from relaxing though, taking in some sights, and doing lots of outlet shopping. I almost forgot the best part, Travel Date and I went to see the Dark Knight on friggin' IMAX. Hello? Can it get better?....Ummmm, NO. To be honest I thought this movie was a bunch of hype and thought I was being dragged by a boy to a boy movie that I would be bored by. However, I must say this probably was the best Batman Movie ever, and the IMAX features were well worth the extra couple of bucks (even though I didn't pay). The 3D scenes were amazing and Heath Ledger did an excellent job with the Joker character. Not just because of his untimely death but because he was fantastic he deserves the recognition. Overall we got to rest and just enjoyed being away from work....seriously I needed this break.
Now it's back to work and life...tomorrow is supposed to be equally gorgeous...maybe I'll skip work...Muahaha!

The Great Purge of 2008
Other than that the weekend was low key. Mostly doing the purge and running errands. There was a very poorly planned trip to Bed Bath and Beyond. Although I did manage to get a lot of stuff that I needed, I managed to get all those items that are incredibly uncomfortable to carry. Living in New York is awesome...only thing is carrying stuff on the subway SUCKS! Movie Date hasn't even come around yet and I must say i'm disappointed. If it weren't for the near by holiday I would be in much worse conditions over his lack of availability. In any case...soon I will be living it up on vacation...woohoo..that keeps me strong.
Hope you all had a good weeked...

Frankie says Relax
But anyway, my plan for this week was not set in stone. Twice my plans were cancelled, including tonight's Movie Date. Impromptu traveling forced a rescheduling....I miss Movie Date....it's not too far away though.
Given that I didn't do as much as I thought, I'm not as tired as I would have been. That also means I've workout out a few times which is totally cool for me. This weekend I'm thinking about taking a cool Yoga seminar. Thinking about it because i'm really not sure if I want to go yet....I think I may want to clean up the apartment a little bit. Since BBF is visiting I haven't been able to randomly spray Scrubbing Bubbles everywhere. Out of consideration for the guest you know....wouldn't want her to think all I do is spray the bubbles and 409. But we'll see, like Jello there is always room for Yoga.
In any case I don't think much else is going on this weekend. Cleaning, grooming, maybe some packing...that's all. I think that sounds pretty cool too me...

The Week Ahead
One less day between me...and what's in this picture.
Last night was fun. Nice dinner at Ovelia in Astoria complete with drinks and appetizers. Then we changed venue to have dessert and more chatting before going to see Mama Mia. The movie was great even though critics are really pulling it apart it was quite enjoyable. I think they might not get it, that's all. It's really not a serious film and since I just saw the Broadway show I really appreciate the content.
In any case this week I've managed to book myself every day to my knowledge. Unless my plans fall through I have activities planned for every day after work. I'm not worried about it because today was a restful day for me but we'll see how I feel by Wednesday, that's usually when I start to feel tired. I hope you all have a good week ahead as well.....Enjoy.

Working for the Weekend
Plans were cancelled twice this week, but I wasn't upset about it because it's hot and i'm tired from all the work and workouts. I figured I might get some kind of activity in now that school is over. Wednesday I did manage to meet some cool people for drinks after work....not to far from work (wink wink) and last night was Movie Date. I like Movie Date because we are comfy on the couch wearing PJs and eating take out. We saw Spider-Man 3....which I thought wasn't very good. It was too long drawn out....Movie Date liked it of course, he's into that kind of stuff.
But this weekend and week is BFF week and I'm very excited. Getting a visit from the Lone Star state is always fun and tomorrow we already have big plans for dinner and a screening of Mama Mia. Yay...Good Times!

Septuagesimo Uno
This weekend was again a success. I explored 2 new things on Saturday. First up Septuagesimo Uno. The smallest park in New York City, at just .04 acres it sits on the upper west side all by it's lonesome. At it truly is lonesome. It looks like the parks department doesn't keep it up well. While this is truly a hidden jem that can serve as refuge for the near by residents, the plant remain overgrown and the walkway is in distress. The benches are clean for the most park but you can't sit there too long unless you have no sense of smell. It's a shame because the first thing I think of is a massive garden, and how if i had the time I would trim the plants and put some flowers in there.
In any case, I also tried Pinkberry for the first time and I must say I was quite impressed. The taste is good and the toppings add on the the flavors but yet it doesn't feel like you just consumed too much of something bad. I would definitely go for it again. It was a light and refreshing treat on a hot summer day.
Today was a less eventful day. I went for some grooming and then passed by the great Barnes and Noble for a book purchase. I was early for my lunch date so I spent my time in the park reading the last of Valley of the Dolls. We had great weather today so I sat and enjoyed the breeze under the trees and the mist from the sprinklers on the playground. Lunch date was FABU, full of surprises, planning and pleasant laughs. I forsee many more dates lunch and otherwise in the near future.

Happy 4th
A scene of our nation's beauty. Taken off the coast of Fire Island, New York.
Today is a true day to celebrate our own personal independence. I've rested today. I've thought about things, and I watched a movie that made me cry. The truth is my job has me stressed and tired, but I realize today that all I need is rest for my body and time for my brain because I can't process so much information at once. I also made myself I killer egg salad sandwich....YUM. Now i'm hoping to rest some more and maybe clean up a bit...make myself presentable to others. Enjoy your day...

Everyone Needs a Makeover

Feelings...Oh so Many Feelings
So, I've been relatively stressed these days with work and finals for school. Yes school. That pesky Master's program that I thought a year and a half ago was such a darn good idea. It's almost over now, so I'm beginning to see the light. Only...how many more classes is it?
Today, the feelings of being used have resurfaced compounded with the fact that I have no patience I think this may lead to receipe for disaster. Let's start with the feelings of being used. If you know me you know i'm a DOer. I do things, I research I learn by MY OWN mistakes, but yet I DO. I've never had much guidance from people you know. It's just what I call a CRAP SHOOT. I try things even though I may be afraid. Lately, I've developed feelings of resentment towards those people that I feel may be riding me to the death. Riding my coat tails if you will. I mean COMMON ON. Be yourself for once and try something new, stop asking around for 10,000 opinions and just do it. "In essence" it's like I'm doing all the work because they don't want to do it on their own. This makes me feel used and crappy and we can't have that now can we. So that being said I'm scaling down, or reeling myself in if you will. Only because I'm really starting to feel drained and this morning I almost let Chatty Cathy have it. If you whine one more time about a freaking filling on your tooth i'm going to sock you......guess what I had a root canal, but i'm not obsessing over it LIKE A CHILD.
But I didn't let her have it, because I'm "civilized". Also, it shows how much I've grown. If I can identify that I must be here for a reason and that perhaps that reason is to teach others patience and the sense of calm. If I can help in that way let them learn from my actions not my reactions. Maybe, in all cases, that's why people come into my life, so that they may learn something from me and my story.
Let's see how the rest of the day goes...I've already started to name people it true Floatinghead capacity...

By the way, how did that movie end? I don't think I remember if the copycat died or not.

Clear...(Vital Signs)
Maybe it's about time I got back on this thing...Nothing has really changed though. I feel like I'm more centered and grounded than before but that's yet to be proven.

Remember to use less, reuse what you can and recycle. You may think that you can't make much of a difference but every little thing helps.

Subway Drama
Also, when did it become manly to share headphones? That is probably one of the girliest things you can possible do. Please Refrain from doing this on the subway. It's not cute.

Bus Ride
I'm hoping for a good day today, all I can do at this point is take it one day at a time. Seems to be working for now.
